PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana: A Scheme by the Government to Provide Financial Incentives to Small and Marginal Farmers of India the total amount of Rs 6,000 is given annually in three quarterly installments of Rs 2,000 each. The installments are paid directly into the bank account of these farmers every four months. The intention of this program is to assist the farmers in performing their agricultural activities and personal spending. The Indian government launched this in the year 2019 and so far millions of farmers have benefited from it.

The number of beneficiaries of the scheme up to 2023 was more than 11 crore and since its launch more than Rs 2 lakh crore has been distributed. To get the installment, farmers have to undergo the e-KYC process and check their details in the PM Kisan portal to ensure it is correct. In general, the installments are released in April, August and December each year. PM Kisan Mandyan portal also provides an online facility by which farmers can check the status of installments released to them by entering their Aadhaar number or bank account number. The 15th installment of Rs 2,000 is going to be soon released by the government as an extension of support provided to farmers.

Overview of the PM Kisan Status

PM Kisan Yojana is the central government’s financial aid program. By this scheme, the central government provides 100% aid to small and marginal farmers as well. By this scheme, in a year, a total of ₹6000 is given to the farmers. This amount is transferred directly in three installments of ₹2000 into their bank account.

The 18th PM Kisan Yojana installment was released on October 5, 2024. The government will spend ₹20,000 crores to pay ₹2000 to the bank accounts of almost 9.5 crore farmers across India.

The last instalment, which is the 17th instalment of this scheme, was paid on June 18, 2024. As of then, ₹2000 has been paid to around 9.26 crore farmers. This time, 24 lakh more farmers are getting the benefit. This instalment benefit will be received by a farmer if he has completed the e-KYC. They can do this process by visiting the official website or by getting it done with biometric at the CSC (Common Service Centres).

Small and Marginal Farmers:

  • This scheme is primarily targeted for the small and marginal farmers possessing cultivable land.

Land Ownership:

  • The farmer has to possess recorded ownership of cultivable land in the state’s land records till a particular cutoff date.
  • The land holding is verified through these records. They must be updated and free from any discrepancy.

Farmer Registration:

  • Eligible farmers will self-register through the PM-KISAN portal, local revenue offices, or Common Service Centres (CSCs).
  • Aadhaar card will be an essential pre-requisite for registration, without which duplication will be avoided and registration authenticated.

The following categories are ineligible to avail the PM-KISAN benefits:

  • Institutional land-holding farmers – Land in trusts, societies, and other institutions.
  • Farmers or any member of their family who are government servants or retired government servants, including employees of central/state PSEs, autonomous bodies of the government, and local bodies.
  • Pensioners drawing a pension of ₹10,000 or more per month.
  • Farmers who had filed income tax returns of the previous assessment year being considered.
  • Doctors, engineers, lawyers, etc., constitutional functionaries.
  • Any constitutional officer like MPs, MLAs, ministers are also barred.

Income Ceilings:

The small and marginal farmers do not have any income limitation; rich farmers who fall under the excluded list based on income are exempted.

How to Check PM Kisan Beneficiary List?

To check the PM Kisan Beneficiary List, follow these steps:

  1. Official Website Visit: The official website for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana can be accessed at pmkisan.gov.in.
  2. Farmer’s Corner: Under that, on the right side of the homepage, look for the ‘Farmers Corner’ section and click on ‘Beneficiary List’.
  3. Choose Your State: You have to choose your state from the drop-down menu on the next page. You need to select the same state in which you registered under the PM Kisan scheme.
  4. Choose Your District: Once you choose your state, there will be a drop-down list of appropriate districts for you to select from. It should be the one corresponding to the district in which your farm or house is located.
  5. Select the Sub-District/Block: From the second drop-down menu, select the Sub-District/Block you have been registered under PM Kisan.
  6. Select Your Village: On selecting the sub-district, select your village from the list that has been populated in the given drop-down list.
  7. Click on ‘Get Report’: Now that you have selected the above details (State, District, Sub-District, and Village) correctly, click ‘Get Report’ to see your beneficiary list.
  8. Now check your name: Check your village beneficiary list. You will be able to scroll down the list and find your name there. When you have found your name, you can then check your eligibility status.
  9. Verify details: Verify your details, which should include your name and your father’s name and every information, for accuracy. Now, if your name is on the list of beneficiaries in your village, you are the beneficiary of the PM Kisan scheme.
